The Beginning of an Addiction

I thought the first thing I should share with you, is what began my affinity toward video games...Final Fantasy. I had been playing video games since as far back as I can remember. I first played Super Mario Bros. and Duck hunt. However, I was a child of the 90's, where the Sega Genesis, and it's mascot, Sonic, ruled all. Sure those games were fun, and what kid didn't play them? But that's not what really makes you a "gamer." I played video games here and there over the years, until I tried my first RPG on the PS1, Threads of Fate. I liked the idea of an intricate story and the menu-based fighting (call me a wimp lol). But that game didn't get me hooked. I then tried Chrono Cross. Which I liked even more. The game had a very intense story, and many interesting characters. But there wasn't much depth to the characters because there were just too many of them. By that time, I knew I liked the genre, but I still hadn't found that perfect game.

Finally, when I was around 12 years-old, I tried the holy grail of RPGs: Final Fantasy. My first game in the series was Final Fantasy VII. Nothing could describe how I felt the first time I played that game. The intense situation it sticks you in right at the beginning of the game. Everything was absorbing, from the music, to the complex story with twists and turns, to the deep character developement, even the graphics, which are atroshious now, were outstanding when the game came out. This game had everything I was looking for. After my exhilerating experience with VII I decided to try VIII. That game captured me even more! Squall and Rinoa are still my favorite characters and couple to this day. From that point on I was hooked.

In honor of my favorite series, I'm going to start a section of my blog where I will write a review for each of the games from my own point-of-view, a girl's point-of-view. Most reviews for video games that you see out there are based on a man's point-of-view. That's fine and well, but even tomboys are still girls at heart. I think it would be good to look at certain things in a girl's point-of-view as well.

Tomboy, Not to be Confused with Butch

Hello! I am RZ, a tomboy. Not in the sense that I dress like a guy, or even act like a guy. I am very much a girl. Just one who likes hanging out with guys, playing video games, rock and roll, watching anime, going outdoors, computers, cars, even catching a sporting event every now and then. I also hate the annoyingly girly girls...

Now, like I said, I don't dress like the "typical tomboy," i.e. short hair and baggy clothes. I do wear jeans, but tight-fighting, "girly" jeans, and I like them. I don't wear skirts or dresses often, but I DO wear them. One typical stereotype that I do follow is makeup. I don't usually wear makeup. It's not that I have a problem with makeup, I'm just plain too lazy for it most days. I figure I'm just going to work, who's there to impress? But when I am going out somewhere with friends or my boyfriend, I usually do dress up my face :) If you want a better idea of my "image," the picture to the left is almost my exact style, except the hat and gigantic wristband.
I have certain "girly" aspects too. I enjoy a good love story, walks in the park, flowers, anything glittery, and I'm a sucker for animals. Although, I guess that isn't too girly when you like lizards and snakes just as much as the cute furries.

So, what's the point of my blog? To be frank, I don't really know. I just felt like creating a space where I can be myself, and share my thoughts. Maybe with other tomboys out there, or girly girls who have always wanted to unleash their inner tomboy. =P

Oh and one more thing...I'm a grammar fanatic. If you see anything here that doesn't look quite right to you, please, feel free to correct me.
